David Walker Confirms He's Exploring Bid for Lieutenant Governor

WFSB 3 Connecticut

The "major political announcement" David Walker is scheduled to make tomorrow in Hartford is that the former U.S. Comptroller General is exploring a run for lieutenant governor.

Walker, a Bridgeport resident who served in four presidential administrations and as the CEO of a now-defunct think tank, confirmed his intentions Sunday on WFSB's Face the State program.

Hearst Connecticut Newspapers first reported the news on Thursday.

State GOP chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. will join Walker for the announcement Monday at 11 a.m. on the north steps of the state Capitol.

Walker told Face the State host Dennis House he thinks he's qualified to run for governor, but thinks it's too late in the process to build the type of fundraising structure necessary to run for governor.
