Goshen in Motion
I’m not about to say that one of Connecticut’s agricultural fair is better than another, but I do know that a great Labor Day Weekend tradition is the Goshen Fair, a three-day immersion into the customs and ways of rural Connecticut, both past and present.
If you haven’t seen an ox up close lately, for example, or watched draft horses get put through their paces, or looked on as a young girl attentively grooms her blue-ribbon lamb - well maybe it’s time to take the scenic ride up Route 63 to this beautiful ridge-top spot and reacquaint yourself with snapshots of life as it once was commonplace all across Connecticut.
And yes, there are rides, midway games, fiddle music, fried dough and candy apples. It wouldn’t be a true country fair otherwise, would it? Goshen Fair, Sept. 4-6.
