Have a Blast on Independence Day!

"Celebrating America" at the Talcott Mountain Music Festival.

In celebration of Independence Day 2010, fireworks displays will illuminate the night skies across Connecticut. Here’s a list of some of the offerings for this 4th of July:

June 30:

OXFORD Fireworks June 30 & July 2 at 9:45 p.m. July 3, 6-11 p.m. at Quaker Farms School, Great Oak Road. Oxford Firemen’s Carnival June 30 through July 3 from 6 to 11 p.m., at the Quaker Farms School, Great Oak Road. There will be rides, games and food. (203) 888-2543, www.oxford-ct.gov

July 1:

July 2:

SIMSBURY July 2 at 7:30 at the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s Talcott Mountain Music Festival, the orchestra’s annual summer series held outdoors at the Performing Arts Center at Simsbury Meadows. “Celebrate America” features music by American composers including John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.” Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” accompanied by a grand finale of fireworks, closes the concert. TRUMBULL July 2, 6-10 p.m. Fireworks at 9 p.m. The Westfield Fireworks Spectacular at the Westfield Mall, 5065 Main St., in the north parking lot near Macy’s. Features games, entertainment, music and food. Admission $1. Rain date July 5, 6-10 p.m. 203-372-4500, www.westfield.com/trumbull

WESTPORT July 2 at 9:15 p.m. off Compo Beach. Fireworks by Grucci. Fireworks tickets are required and available at the Westport Parks and Recreation office during business hours or at Police Headquarters any time.  All tickets must be purchased in advance. NEW HAVEN July 4 at 9:15 p.m. from East Rock Park. The “Red, White, and the Blues” fundraiser for the Sailor's and Soldier's Monument from 3-10 p.m. (tickets $15).  Free public fireworks display will be viewable from Blake Field (State Street), Wilbur Cross High School (Mitchell Drive) and Rice Field (View Street). WASHINGTON July 4 at  8:45 p.m. at Shepaug Valley Middle/High School grounds on South Street. Features the town’s annual road race and a. picnic. $20.00 car passes can be obtained at the Parks and Recreation Office in Washington Town Hall during business hours. Tickets are also available on a limited basis Saturdays and Sundays outside the Washington Food Market. Rain date for the picnic and fireworks is July 5. July 10:

BRIDGEPORT FIREWORKS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE The Barnum Festival’s fireworks display has been postponed. (203) 367-8495, www.barnumfestival.com

COVENTRY July 10 Coventryfest features a day of festivities, food and entertainment at Patriots Park on Lake Street, gates open at 3 p.m., fireworks at 9 p.m. Shuttle buses will be available at the local schools. Rain date July 11. (860) 547‑8191, www.coventryct.org

HARTFORD Mohegan Sun’s Riverfest 2010 July 10, 4-10:30 p.m. The fireworks 9 p.m. on Connecticut River, which can be seen from Charter Oak Landing, Riverfront Plaza, Hartford and Founder's Plaza, and Great River Park, East Hartford.
