New Year's Eve, Middletown Style

Attention, would-be revelers! You don’t have to trek into Times Square to get that New Year’s Eve vibe. Our own city of Middletown is hosting its first New Year’s Eve event (middnight.org)—and you’re invited. Starting at 3 on Saturday, the city’s Main Street will come alive with stories, songs, crafts, film and live performances from SteveSongs, Barefoot Truth, Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Primate Fiasco, John Whelan and more. There’ll also be dance classes, speed chess, speed dating, roller-skating, show-tune sing-alongs, fireworks at 6 and “a dazzling participatory event” at midnight. A free Middnight on Main app—the first interactive New Year’s Eve app offered in the state—is available for iPhones and Androids in the app store, or log onto middnight.org and click on the links at the bottom of the home page.

For further information, log onto middnight.org. Buttons to the alcohol-free, family-friendly event ($20 adults, $10 kids age 2 and up) may be purchased online or at various Main Street locations.
