That old cliché about April being the cruelest month, forget about it.

When it comes to fine dining promotions and events, April is so very kind—offering a spring restaurant week in a dining epicenter, New Haven, and restaurant weeks in Branford and Stratford, with both of those running April 6 to 12.

New Haven Restaurant Week runs from this coming Sunday, April 6, through April 11. In all, 29 of the city’s most popular restaurants are participating in the 12th installment of the promotional event held twice a year.

Participating restaurants will offer three-course prix fixe menus for both lunch and dinner, including an appetizer, entrée and dessert, says a release on New Haven Restaurant Week. Lunches will cost $18, and dinners $32. Those prices do not include beverages, tax or gratuity (and some restrictions apply).  Regular menus will also be offered, of course, and because restaurant week is so popular, reservations need to be made in advance. “We are very excited to host this spring’s restaurant week, allowing diners to save on New Haven’s award-winning dining scene,” Mayor Toni Harp says in the release.  “New Haven Restaurant Week has become a seasonal tradition for residents and visitors alike … .”

The proverbial icing on the cake when it comes to New Haven Restaurant Week has to do with parking.

Guests and downtown visitors will be treated to $5 parking from 4 p.m. to midnight throughout the week at both the Crown Street and Temple Street Garages, the release says. In addition, Park New Haven will offer its free validated parking at select participating restaurants.

“It is our goal to make parking easy and accessible for everyone, so that everyone can enjoy what makes our city so great, including our world-class restaurants,” David B. Panagore, acting executive director of Park New Haven, says in the release.
