The Capital Grille.

Wine aficionados, listen up. There’s still lots of time to get in on The Capital Grille’s summertime wine event, The Generous Pour. For $25 per person with dinner, you get tastes of “Seven Remarkable Wines,” each a different varietal from a premier California vintner. All rated wines (two have yet to be rated) score 90 points or over from Robert Parker.

The featured wines include Arrowood “Saralee’s Vineyard” Syrah, 2007; Atalon Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009; Kendall Jackson Highland Estate “Taylor Peak” Merlot, 2005-’06; Hartford Court Pinot Noir, 2011; Freemark Abbey Chardonnay, 2011; Matanzas Creek Sauvignon Blanc, 2011; and La Crema Pinot Gris, 2012.

If you’ve never eaten at The Capital Grille, this could be the excuse you’re looking for. That is, if the menu of lobster-and crab cakes, dry-aged sirloin, filet Oscar, broiled lobster and pan-seared Chilean Sea Bass doesn’t do the trick.

Too long a haul? Fear not. The elegant steakhouse will be opening a Hartford location in September.

The Capital Grille, 230 Tresser Blvd., Stamford, 203/967-0000, thecapitalgrille.com.
