Surf's Up: Time for Mystic's Richly Flavored Restaurant Week

A lobster roll or fish-and-(house made)-chips as part of a $12 lunch at the Ancient Mariner, a char-grilled Pat La Frieda hamburger with smoked cheddar cheese, balsamic red onion jam, spicy mayonnaise and lettuce and tomato on a toasted brioche roll at Go Fish, and pumpkin raviolis served with a pancetta and sage butter sauce  as part of a $20.13 dinner at Anthony J’s Bistro, or Chimichurri grilled skirt steak, Octagon mash and roasted acorn squash in a $20.13 dinner at Octagon Steak House—it must be restaurant week in the Mystic area.

The 2013 Mystic Restaurant Week, sponsored by the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, gets underway Monday, Nov. 4, and continues through Sunday, Nov. 10. See all the menus of participating venues.

Restaurants in the Groton, Mystic, Stonington and Westerly, R.I., area will be offering special lunch and dinner menus at fixed prices. Almost all of the restaurants' lunch menus are offered at $13, and dinner at $20.13, not including tax and gratuity, the chamber said.

The acclaimed Oyster Club (a scallops dish from its website is shown here) will be participating with a special farm to table menu price of $29.13.

Nearly all of the restaurants have already made their special menus available online at mysticchamber.org. They are also available on the Connecticut Restaurant Week website.

Restaurant Week participants, including Ancient Mariner, Harp and Hound, Octagon, and Steak Loft are offering entertainment throughout the week, to add to the experience of guests' taking pleasure in some of Mystic’s finest cuisine, the chamber said.

Also, to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the arrival of the 1841 whaleship Charles W. Morgan, the Mystic Seaport will be offering free admission to all museum visitors on a day during restaurant week.

For more information, call the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce at (860) 574-9578, or visit the website.
