Match in SoNo Turns 14, Celebrates by Offering Six-Course Tasting Menu
Match restaurant in SoNo is celebrating its 14th anniversary this week with a special six-course tasting menu of some of the classic dishes that have kept them on top for so long.
There are actually two tasting menus, both $35, one Fish & Veggies, the other for Meat Lovers. Fish & Veggies includes charred Brussels, a Tuna Tasting, arugula and parmesan salad, Angry Lobster fettucine, PBJ Halibut, and winds up with those “Just Baked” Gooey Chocolate Chip cookies we know and love. The one for Meat Lovers starts off with meatballs, followed by Spicy Bacon & Mozzarella, Fork & Knife Caesar, Gnocchi tossed with “8-Hour” Osso Buco, steak frites and ends with chocolate cake. Quite a nice little deal for $35. (The “fine print” asks that everyone at a given table stick to the same tasting menu.)
“We’re very grateful to all our loyal customers over the years and wanted to do something a little different to thank them,” says co-owner Scott Beck. “It should be a lot of fun.”
The menu will be served Tuesday through Friday, Oct. 8-11. We've got just one question. Where are our favorite Carpetbaggers, those breaded, fried oysters in the shell with steak tartare and truffle crema? Fortunately, Beck tells us, the regular menu will also be available, too. Reservations are recommended.
And have you heard? Beck (also an owner of The Loft in SoNo, and the Chelsea in Fairfield) and another partner, Kevin McHugh (Spotted Horse Tavern, The Gray Goose), will soon be opening Little Barn on the Post Road in Westport. Can’t wait! For more about Little Barn check out their Facebook page.
