A prime shopping district in downtown Stamford will be the venue this weekend for Arts & Crafts on Bedford, with the street closed to traffic and approximately 90 merchants offering everything from photography to jewelry and pottery to fiber arts in a festival-like atmosphere, where there will also be dining in extended sidewalk cafes.

Arts & Crafts on Bedford will offer extended shopping hours on Saturday, running from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and will continue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday

There will be live music on Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., according the listing page on the Stamford Downtown website, which said, "Visit the Imagination Station presented by Stamford Museum & Nature Center and the Bartlett Arboretum featuring “hands on” activities for kids!"

Arts & Crafts on Bedford is a signature event of the Stamford Downtown Special Services District, which was established in 1993 with a mission to "create, manage and promote a quality environment for people, which enhances the economic vitality of Stamford Downtown," the website says.

Stamford Downtown offers a broad array of shops, services, restaurants, arts, education and events, and the site says, "If you work here, live here or visit here, we invite you to browse our website and then come downtown often to be a part of the scene.
This is the Place!"
