Ted Nugent won’t be welcome by some in the community when he comes to New Haven for a concert next month after making controversial comments about the Zimmerman trial verdict.

Nugent, a seasoned hard rock musician and outspoken gun advocate, is well known for making controversial statements, but a recent editorial he wrote about the Zimmerman trial has touched raw nerves, bringing him into the limelight yet again.

According to the Huffington Post, Nugent wrote: “George Zimmerman is thankfully and rightfully not facing any jail time for legally defending himself, but he is far from a free man. ... While there is little he can do to protect himself from a civil-rights charge by our gun-running, pro-New Black Panthers attorney general, Mr. Zimmerman may have some legal room to move regarding a wrongful death lawsuit by Trayvon Martin’s family.”

Nugent is scheduled to perform Aug. 6 at Toad's Place, and the club's owner said the show will go on.
