Four-Legged Holiday Message: Connecticut Shelter Pets Complete Families
Mara Lavitt/New Haven Register
December 23, 2013 New Haven The Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter of Branford has some pretty cute animals available for adoption including 7 1/2 week old male kitten Weezy, here with Animal Shelter Director Laura Burban.
NEW HAVEN--Two kittens, a mama cat, a dog and a pair of guinea pigs were excited to be out of the shelter for a holiday change.
Nash, a 3-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback/Boxer mix dog; Emerald, a 1-year-old calico cat; Weezy and Wonka, two 8-week-old domestic short kittens, and pair of guinea pigs, Baby and Minnie paid a visit to the New Haven Register’s newsroom Monday in hopes of being adopted. They all currently live at the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford.
The visit to the newsroom as part of the Register’s ongoing “Pet of the Month” feature, which aims to bring awareness to the importance of animal adoption. Started in September with a 7-year-old male Pekingese named Louie, the feature has found homes for three animals. (See more photos here)
Branford shelter Director Laura Burban has said the feature gives the animals exposure “because it brings to light that people should be adopting from animal shelters.”
“These animals are no different than the animals people already have at their homes,” she said.
