Former U.S. Secretary of State and potential presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton is returning to New Haven in October to accept an award from her alma mater, the New Haven Register reports.

Clinton will be in the city for Yale Law School’s alumni weekend, Oct. 4-6. She will receive an “Award of Merit” from the law school on Oct. 5 at Yale’s Woolsey Hall, where she also will deliver an address.

“It’s her 40th Yale Law School reunion,” said Yale spokesman Tom Conroy.

Clinton has maintained a steady relationship with Yale in recent years. Yale awarded her an honorary degree in 2009, and in 2001 she was the university’s Class Day speaker.

The news site Politico recently reported that Clinton is fielding offers of academic positions from several prominent schools, including Yale.

Conroy would not confirm or deny the report. “We’re deferring to Secretary Clinton and her office on any plans that she has,” Conroy said.

Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, also earned a Yale Law School degree in 1973. He delivered a speech at the 35th reunion of the class in 2008.
