Congress moved one step closer Wednesday to cutting SNAP benefits for the second time in less than three months. With support from both parties, the $1 trillion Farm Bill passed the House of Representative 251-166 Wednesday, along with a proposed $8 billion reduction to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. Tom Foley is Officially In the Race for Governor

Prepared with a long wish list of what he’d do as the state’s chief executive, Tom Foley announced Wednesday that he’s running again for governor. Foley, a former U.S. Ambassador to Ireland and the Republican Party’s gubernatorial nominee in 2010, formed an exploratory committee for the post in September. Foley said in months of touring Connecticut, he had met people dissatisfied with the state’s prospects.
