Former Connecticut U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman is now fully involved in the private sector. The Democrat-turned-independent will serve as the chairman of Victory Park Capitol’s executive board, it was widely reported today.

Lieberman, who served in the Senate from 1988 to 2013, and was Al Gore's running mate in the 2000 presidential race, will advise Victory Park, based in Chicago.

According to Fortune.com/CNN, Victory Park is “a $1.3 billion firm that focuses on small-cap public companies and mid-market private companies, often at times of distress. Portfolio companies include Jamba Juice, Kabbage and Silver Airways.”

The report says Lieberman is not expected to directly lobby on behalf of the company.
