Connecticut Republicans to Hold Nominating Convention in May, Plan 'Connecticut Comeback'

The state’s Republican Party is holding its nominating convention for statewide and federal offices in May at Mohegan Sun, the GOP formally announced today, billing the event as a "Connecticut Comeback."

The Republican State Convention will be held May 16 and 17 at the casino’s convention center, where party nominations for governor, lieutenant governor, comptroller, state treasurer, attorney general, secretary of the state and U.S. Congress will take place.

“Our 2014 State Convention will be the kickoff for a Connecticut Comeback,” said party Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr. in a press release. “Over the past three years, Dan Malloy and the Democrats in the legislature have passed record tax hikes, borrowed more than ever, and let government spending spiral out of control. What we need in Connecticut is fiscal responsibility and commonsense reforms that will create jobs and foster real economic recovery. That’s what our Connecticut Republican candidates stand for, and that’s what this convention is all about — the Connecticut Comeback.”
