Murphy, Himes React To Government Shutdown Deal

With news that a bipartisan agreement to end the government shutdown and prevent a default is ready for a vote, members of the Connecticut Congressional delegation applauded the decision.

“Senate leadership reaches bipartisan agreement. Bravo! This is the beginning of the end of this ridiculous #shutdown,” tweeted U.S. Congressman Jim Himes, D-4.

Others, like Sen. Chris Murphy wondered aloud what impact the decision will have on Republican’s policy when the temporary fix expires.

"Could paper thin silver lining to this fiasco be that House Rs will learn lesson and not pull this again in 3 months?," Murphy tweeted.

Other members of the delegation have not issued comments ahead of the vote.

Over the past few days, both Murphy and Sen. Richard Blumenthal have taken to the Senate floor to express the impact the government shutdown has had on Connecticut's economy and businesses.
